A message from the Alliance Chair
Recently, the National LGBTI Health Alliance put out an Expression of Interest (EOI) for people to join the organisation’s Board of governance. I am thrilled to report we received 37 amazing responses. The applicants are greatly skilled and experienced community members who reside in rural, regional and metro Australia. The applications demonstrate an enormous community interest in the important work of the Alliance, an appreciation for the insight into the communities we serve and the strength of our strategic approach to governance.
As Chair, I work to ensure the Alliance is an open, agile and responsive organisation with a Board that is focused on strategic governance, financial management and risk management. I sincerely thank the many people who expressed an interest in the Board and look forward to maintaining and supporting your connections with the Alliance, and its work, into the future.
I welcome the new Board members – Stephen Kerry, Shaun Stanton and Suzanne Castellas.
These new members bring a wealth of experience in strategic insight, public health, governance and strong legal skills. We are privileged to have a Board with a renewed vigour and unique perspective on the communities we serve. Rob Collins will continue in a co-opted Board position for up to twelve months to ensure a smooth transition into the future, Rob is strong advocate for the aged care agenda. I feel very fortunate to be working with the very capable Janet Jukes as Vice Chair as well as Susan Ditter, Gail Lemon, Graham Lovelock, Mark Fuller and Terence Humphreys. I would like to acknowledge the contributions of previous Board members which provided a strong platform for the current position of the Board and the organisation.
I am fortunate to be Chair at a time when the Alliance is in a great position moving forward and we welcome your participation, support and endorsement. I trust that together we will uphold the Alliance vision of a world where relationships, sexualities, bodies and genders are affirmed and valued in all their diversity.
