Three tips for reducing aged care complaints: becoming LGBTI-inclusive

The experience of many Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) people throughout their lifetime often includes rejection, persecution and discrimination. Many older LGBTI people hide their sexual orientation, sex or gender identity on a daily basis because they fear discrimination.

The Aged Care Complaints Scheme handles complaints including discrimination experienced by LGBTI care recipients.

We invited Dr Gávi Ansara to share some tips he thinks may be useful to help ensure that aged care providers are aware of the potential discrimination that LGBTI people face.
